Copy mathgraf.exe and select.dll to your windows directory ( the directory
where your Windows executables reside ). Select.dll must be in the current
directory or in a directory accessible in your DOS path. The *.mgf files
are demo curves. You can load them with the open option in the file menu.
The Mathgraf.hlp file is the equivalent of the help option in Mathgraf.
It is not necessary to have it on the disk to run help.
2.1 Licence Key
---------------
For registered users, enter the licence key printed on your licence
certificate. It must be entered in the licence dialog box obtained
by clicking the licence info button displayed when starting MathGraf.
The key is case sensitive. Please make sure you type it in exactly
as it appears on your licence certificate. The key is stored in the
win.ini configuration file in your Windows directory. This file is part
of the Windows software and is used by other applications to store
configuration information. Keep your licence certificate in a safe place
since you will need to renter the key if you reinstall Windows or the
win.ini file is erased or corrupted. If you lose your licence key,
write us and we will promptly send a new one.
3 Help
------
For help concerning Mathgraf select the Help option on the Mathgraf menu.
The mathgraf.hlp file on the MathGraf disk is an ASCII file with the
same information as the help option. You can also communicate any
questions to me by Compuserve mail at address 70134,111.
Note that any function to be plotted must be entered in POSTFIX notation.
4 Release Notes
---------------
These are the changes since the last release 2.3
- The options menu item allows you to select one of 9 combinations of
pen width and resolution. This was added to support high resolution
screens and accelerate the display of graphics by selecting the low
resolution mode.
- The screen update speed has been greatly improved when the mathgraf window
is raised or in any other window manipulation that doesn't change the
size of the window and the graphic.
- It is now possible to pass a file name as an argument to mathgraf.
Mathgraf will display the graph contained in the file at startup.
For example, you can associate file names ending in .mgf to mathgraf.exe.
The associate option is on the file menu of the File Manager. See
your MS-Windows User Guide for details.
This way you only have to double click on the .mgf file icon and mathgraf
will be started.
- A bug has been fixed that would mess up the screen when trying to load
an invalid file.
- Better syntax error checking for functions has been added and prevents
program crashes when entering certain invalid functions.
- Use of proportional fonts when possible.
- The licensing feature has been added to cut the postage cost and avoid
having to send fragile diskettes by mail. If you obtain an unlicensed
copy from a friend. You only need to send your check to the address
specified in the about box. A licence key will be sent to you. After
you enter this licence key in the licence info dialog box, The program
will record your identification and the number of users covered by the
licence. This information will be displayed in the about box when
requested but the about box will stop being displayed at startup.

6 Suggestions and bug reports
-----------------------------
Your comments and suggestions would be appreciated. They are needed to
improve future releases by including features needed by the users. We are
also interested to hear about new ideas for entirely different programs
that can make use of the great graphical environment that is MS-Windows.
